The Midwood Files June 25, 2023

Our favorite Midwood is doing so well, although it seems to be the hard way. He’s been in a nursing facility to work on muscle strength and continue to heal from surgery. He’s been fortunate enough to have his room to himself most of the time, until (Cue doomsday music) a room mate of advanced age, we’ll call him Dick, arrived. I was present for this event, as they brought in the poor man, obviously in alot of pain and discomfort, while his son helped him get situated. Every now and then he would yell out “HELP MEEEE” or some other middle earth sounding monster groan. Annoying yes, ya gotta feel for the guy. But…

Lets be honest. There’s a reason some of us are not nurses. Some of us would begin thinking about tying the guys tubes in a knot because well, we’re just that petty and protective of our own. OK so after I left, its sleepy time for one and all. LF called me later to report that they had moved the guy because he threw a full soda can accross the room and basically was not going to be singing Kum-By-Ya anytime soon. So everyone was now getting the rest and help they needed.

The next phase of on the road to healing took place with transporting LF back to Rhode Island Hospital because he was in major pain where his bladder lives, and violent shaking, possibly a reaction from the physical therapy.

Last I heard, this morning, they’ve replaced the bladder bag and will keep an eye on him through Monday/Tuesday when he’ll see the doc again.

So all prayers and focus on him being well continues to be much appreciated. I wish I could hug each and every one of you. Just not all the time.

More as I get it.

Our favorite Midwood continues to show ’em how its done, healing well and right on track. He is at a nursing facility now but occupational therapy is really helping. He looks great, sounds great. I’m of course anxious for him to be able to come home for obvious reasons but also because the cats are holding me prisoner. Seriously, no move is made without a feline escort on each side of me.

I miss him like mad but I also know he’ll be home soon and ready to move forward. Yep, literally move.

More about that later:)

Update on our favorite Midwood: He’s really hanging in there and doing better each day. He is now in a lovely nursing facility where they will help him get his strength back and be well again.

They are keeping an eye on the wound from his surgery though, as it developed a hole, so he got to ride in the ambulance back to the hospital for them to have a look. Just FYI bring your flying skateboard if you ever travel to Rhode Island because the potholes are like swiss cheese around these parts. Anyhoo LF’s pothole is small and healing. (I can’t help it I’m left to my own devices.)

Continuous thanks for prayers and love and healing vibes, from both of us. I intend on giving good news from now on. You take care too ya’ll!

Update on our LF: He remains in hospital because of a new procedure they’ve done, draining his gall bladder because of an infection. His previous surgery however is healing well.

You can imagine I’m sure, how totally fed up he is with being a patient in pain and all these beepy things going off all the time and feeling alot like a science experiment no matter how sweet and caring the staff is. And well, they truly are, but, ya know. When all you wanna do is throw a bedpan accross the room and go home, even nice nursing and CNA staff can be annoying, not to mention the cranky other patient you share a room with. He’s on some good antibiotics and oxy now and then as well.

Anyway, I’m very proud of him for tolerating all of this so well, so far, and know that he will continue to do so. Its who he is, an exceptional human being and I should know. He’s the reason I can be strong right now, because he is.

One more day on the road to better yes? YES! Hang in there with us a bit more ok?
