The Midwood Files July 6, 2023

The Midwood Files and Staff (yeah ok me and 2 cats) sincerely hope you had a joyful July 4th no matter how you spent it.

Midwood watched the oldest July 4th parade in the nation with his Uncle Tim from a TV in the nursing facility just down the road from the historical towns that gave the rockets their red glare in the first place. (hint hint we’re in New England, Revolutionary War ‘n’ stuff ya know?!) Here in Rhode Island, fireworks go off at least a week before the actual holiday, every night. Yep everyone here loves to blow shit up. Its cool really, hoping that they all know WHY they’re making so much racket and smoke. Still, it gives us a bit of pause knowing we are leaving a place that after everything, remains dear to our hearts.

I was able to spend the day with him today and we had fun having some awesome good Chinese food brought to us from a local restaurant. If you’re from NY, you know that living on pizza, hot dogs, knishes and Chinese take out, is actual holiday food fare, and is akin to … to … Anything I say here will sound racist or insulting to Southerners. Can’t be doing THAT ya’ll!

He had to be taken back to RI Hosp., got his bag replaced, however he may not have to keep it much after next week’s doc appointment. He is healing really well back at the nursing facility, doing great at physical and occupational therapy, colon surgery healing brilliantly as well. Let me tell you, if being septic 3 times doesn’t kill you, well, you’re LF Midwood that’s what. Man oh man!:)

So yes, your love and prayers are working very well don’t even think about stopping now k?:) Cuz we love you. Seriously. Whether or not that is a good thing remains to be seen. You’re just gonna have to put up with us ya know? ADJUST.

The Midwood Files Update June 30, 2023

Welp, our favorite Midwood continues to do well but only after they decided it would benefit him (and it did) to get him back to Rhode Island Hospital where they replaced the gall bladder drain bag thing. You can truly only imagine how much he hates that. He is though, now back at the nursing facility to complete his physical therapy for perhaps another 2 weeks kinda maybe.

His can throwing room mate from hell has been replaced by a priest, (I can hear you!) But only for a short bit. Tis private now. So, his only job now is to do his therapy, rest, and recover.

Laters peeps. Luv ya! (kinda)

The Midwood Files June 25, 2023

Our favorite Midwood is doing so well, although it seems to be the hard way. He’s been in a nursing facility to work on muscle strength and continue to heal from surgery. He’s been fortunate enough to have his room to himself most of the time, until (Cue doomsday music) a room mate of advanced age, we’ll call him Dick, arrived. I was present for this event, as they brought in the poor man, obviously in alot of pain and discomfort, while his son helped him get situated. Every now and then he would yell out “HELP MEEEE” or some other middle earth sounding monster groan. Annoying yes, ya gotta feel for the guy. But…

Lets be honest. There’s a reason some of us are not nurses. Some of us would begin thinking about tying the guys tubes in a knot because well, we’re just that petty and protective of our own. OK so after I left, its sleepy time for one and all. LF called me later to report that they had moved the guy because he threw a full soda can accross the room and basically was not going to be singing Kum-By-Ya anytime soon. So everyone was now getting the rest and help they needed.

The next phase of on the road to healing took place with transporting LF back to Rhode Island Hospital because he was in major pain where his bladder lives, and violent shaking, possibly a reaction from the physical therapy.

Last I heard, this morning, they’ve replaced the bladder bag and will keep an eye on him through Monday/Tuesday when he’ll see the doc again.

So all prayers and focus on him being well continues to be much appreciated. I wish I could hug each and every one of you. Just not all the time.

More as I get it.
